Five Years. One Big Celebration.

Five years ago, Happy Day Plants opened its doors in downtown Longmont with a simple idea: a plant shop could be so much more than a place to buy plants. It could be a place where people find purpose, build relationships, learn new skills, and feel like they have a place to belong. This September, we’re celebrating that vision and the community that has helped make it possible.

Join us for the Happy Day Community Celebration on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Happy Day Plants. This free, family-friendly celebration will mark five years of growth while shining a light on the people and programs at the heart of our mission.

Rooted in purpose

Since opening, Happy Day Plants has grown into a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, while also providing access to education, social connection, and community engagement for people of all ages and abilities.

Our shop has become a place where people come together in many different ways. From Happy Day Hangs, field trips, workshops, community pop-ups, birthday parties, or simply stopping in to browse the plants, every person who walks through our doors helps shape what Happy Day Plants has become.

And we’re just getting started.

Come Sit With Us

This year's celebration will also launch our Come Sit With Us campaign, inspired by a simple belief: everyone deserves a place at the table.

Loneliness is a significant issue for people with intellectual disabilities. A 2026 systematic review published in the Journal of Applied Research in Intellectual Disabilities found that more than four in ten people with intellectual disabilities experience loneliness.

Your support helps us make more room at the table for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Celebrate Five Years With Us

The Happy Day Community Celebration will be a day for the whole community to come together and experience what makes Happy Day Plants special.
